Elyse Shorez

About Me

I am Elyse Shorez, wife to Jake Shorez, and mother to three students in the STMA school district. My children are thriving in their classrooms, and I have loved volunteering and being an active member in their schools and the broader STMA community.

I hold a Masters Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology which in summary, is the study of how to maximize efficacy in large groups of people. Professionally I’ve held roles that have been focused on driving organizational success and employee engagement. I’ve worked with corporate leaders to develop effective teams, drive accountability, and ensure teams are set up to best leverage their strengths and continually improve. I understand organizations who prioritize recognizing and engaging their members are the ones who ultimately succeed and I look forward to the opportunity to bring my skills and experience to the STMA school board.

My reason for running

I am running for my children, and for yours. I am running because I am passionate about continuing the tradition of excellence for our students at STMA. Having attended nearly all school board meetings since my children began attending STMA and also leading the STMA Legislative Action team, I have learned so much about the complexity of issues our school district is facing. While there is no doubt there is work to be done to ensure our schools continue to thrive, I’m proud to be a member of this committed community and know that together we can ensure our students' futures are bright.
